A large part of your shopping involves care products. Finally, we use shower products, toothpaste and toothbrushes every day. We want good shampoos and conditioner and so on. That's a very big bite out of your budget.
The main problem with all these care products is that they are expensive. So we look for the offers. You usually go to a drugstore for this. But it can be done cheaper. We give you tips on how you can save costs.
1. What's in your bathroom cabinet?
That's our first tip: regularly clean out the bathroom cabinet completely. You often have things in there that you have forgotten. They ended up somewhere in the back and out of sight, while you can still use them perfectly. Or there are those half bottles or jars.
First check whether they are still good, of course. Your care products can also spoil or no longer work properly. So throw it away. Before you buy all kinds of new stuff, first use up everything that is still there. Then empty it completely this time.
2. Buy house brands
You are probably a fan of certain products, but of course there is more than what you always use. Daily products in particular do not have to be from an expensive brand. House brands from the drugstore or supermarket are (often) just as good as the more expensive brands.
For a bottle from Kruidvat, for example, you may only pay € 1.00, while a brand quickly costs € 3.50. So you can really save a lot on that. And this also applies to cotton pads, cotton swabs and toilet paper.
Even shampoo does not necessarily have to be expensive, although a hairdressing brand is often better than the drugstore one. Pay particular attention to what is good for your hair type.
3. Keep an eye on the offers for care products
There are offers every week. And that is the best saving tip. Don't forget the offers at the supermarket, where they are often cheaper than at the drugstore. The 1+1 free or 2nd half price are especially interesting. So check that out before you do your shopping.
4. Go for bulk offers
There are also online drugstores where you regularly see offers on large numbers of care products. This is especially noticeable with toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo and shower gel. For example, you buy six products at once. Are you right enough for a long time.
5. Don't be seduced by the beautiful jars and bottles
Many products are beautifully packaged and promise fantastic things for beautiful skin. But then you also pay for this story and the packaging. While, as we said, they really aren't necessarily better than the cheaper brands. So you only buy them for the beauty.
Before you know it you have a drawer full of jars and bottles that you don't actually do anything with. You don't always have to buy a separate day and night cream. This can also be done with a day and night cream in one. And do you really need that eye cream?
You can also use pure oil for your skin. For example, coconut oil and almond oil also work very well for dry skin. And as husband and wife you really don't have to have everything separately. At most, pay attention to your skin type.
6. Don't forget the Action
As you know, we are big fans of the Action. We find the nicest things there. But they also have a large selection of care products that are much cheaper than in other stores. You can save a lot, especially on shampoo and shower gel.
7. Refill packages of care products
Fortunately, you can buy more and more of them. After all, you also have to pay for the packaging. Then it is useful that if you buy the same product, you can simply refill the bottle or jar. Saves costs and waste less. You see this often, especially with hand soap and shower gel.
Do you want to be completely frugal? The best way to save on shampoo is to never wash your hair again. The golden tip, or just nasty?
